What Does SVB's Failure Really Mean?
SVB mismanaged duration risk is unconscionable for any banker certainly a bank of SVB size it was the 16th largest bank in the country. Arrogance though applies to the liability side of the balance sheet and what we mean by that is the fact that they clearly not just SVB the day is bigger than SVB in its management, also applies to the regulators who failed to recognize or appreciate that there was a different kind of concentration risk at the bank.
