McConnel said he had no doubt that actually, factually, morally, donald trump was responsible. He basically said they didn't have jurisdiction to exercise over the trial because trump had left office. This is what we call jury nullification. That's the jury stepping outside of its role and deciding on some other basis. And i think it's because he did not have enough republicans to go along with him. If he'd had a majority of the republicans, if hed had 26 of them, then i think he would have done it,. But of course, he was afraid that trump would organize an overthrow of his leadership.
