This chapter explores the bankruptcy of Black Jewel, a coal mining company, which left many miners in central Appalachia without income. In response to their financial hardships, a group of miners organized a protest by blocking a coal train, leading to the creation of a community protest camp that emphasizes their fight for owed wages.
