I've Fallen Away From Normality and Respectability
This was the experience of literally millions of women through the nineteenth century, even earlier as well. And what's remarkable is how easy it was just to slip very, very quickly into complete destitution. Dickens writes about that, and that's probably what people are most familiar with. But i don't think we can even begin to fully comprehend, in the 20 first century, because there were no safety nets. There was nothing. Things have changed, and i think we're very fortunate.
