Saint Columba Prays for Us

Columba was born in the year 521 to Irish royalty, descendants of king Nile of the nine hostages. Columba and his followers settled on the island of Iona and the inner hebrides where they founded a now famous monastery with Columba as the abbot. He converted the northern Picts, including their king Bruda, and founded many other monasteries throughout Scotland. On one well-known occasion, he banished a fierce aquatic beast, which had been terrorizing the Picts, back to the bottom of the river Ness.
