In order to construct Chinese philosophy in the 19th century there was a lot of I want to say institutional violence that had to be done. In western tradition the body is a drag and an unfortunate kind of weight on the pure exercise of the mind so whatever you're doing with your body when you philosophize just keep the rest of us in ignorance of it we don't want to know about it. If you look at comparable traditions like yoga there is a very elaborate coevolution of the physical and the intellectual undertaking they have to be done together. Could you teach Indian philosophy without doing yoga? That's obviously another really good example.
