Nixon's China Visit

Mao naturally put Joe in charge of this USA project, and because this was important to Mao, Jiangqing couldn't go against it. Henry Kissinger secretly flew from Pakistan to Beijing to hold direct talks with Joe on February 9th and 10th. By 1971, China's aid to Vietnam was at its highest level. But Joe was firm. No U.S. puppet states allowed on China's borders.
