Scaling Up

Scaling up is adding more hardware resources to a single machine. Scale out is, Hey, it's way cheaper to add more machines. Scaling up can be simpler and easier to maintain as the power available on one machine increases. But there are situations where that doesn't make sense in the world of cloud computing.
