The Lord God, This Is Jerusalem

Ezekiel's appearance symbolizes the impending humiliation of his compatriots who are still in Jerusalem. The prophet may have been as shocked over this order as he was after the command eat bread cooked over human excrement. Block says third to have one self forcefully shaved by someone else, even though Ezekiel is the one doing it, but God tells him to do it. To have this happen was to experience extreme dishonor and humiliation that Ezekiel shaped himself.
