It wasn't really that much of a money making venture on the part of the papacy then that wasn't a key driver? Yeso, no, not a massive driver. I think they do make some money from this, but it's very difficult a sort of, you know, come up with concrete amounts. And i suppose what makes it even more complex isit that they are papal sources talking about trade. The fact that the popes in a way legitimize crus and trade with moslems under certain conditions. O, yes, i suppose it is this er emphasis the complexityof the period as well.
