The new senate bill will dramatically restrict the power of employee unions. In fact it's far worse for them because they don't have the kinds of production that academic freedom is informed in our practices. Is this like a two-tier system where the public university is supposed to observe all these political limits whereas the private university is free to teach as it was? The absence of the term democracy in this regard is really indicative. Here it is imagining that nation is a constitutional republic on the model of Plato's Republicwhere there is a hierarchy of enlightened leaders coming from particular classes and then the masses who are to be ruled by these. It's very much connected to that structure.
