Pavellic Harness for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip
Hip flexion should not exceed 90 degrees due to the risk of developing a femoral nerve palsy. Abduction of the hips should not exceed 70 degrees, which is associated with avascular necrosis. Mertigan, at all, performed a retrospective review of all patients who underwent pavellic harness treatment for DDH within a 17-year period. They found that patients whose palsy resolved within three days had a 70% chance of treatment success.
