Are You Paying Attention to History and Sociology of Science?
History of science grew out of scientists who then started doing historical work. Often, historians of science were in physics departments. They would teach intro physicsand they would talk to their colleagues. Some people think it's irrelevant or just nice stories like 'it's fun to know einstein anecdotes' Others are concerned that history makes science look less pristine and pure. We could learn something about science by studying its history but this is not at all the intention of the field.
