Is There a Border With Northern Ireland?
Would Scotland be allowed to easily join the European Union? Presumably any attempt would be made difficult by Spain, as if this were easy, it would be a strong sign to Catalonia that it could try a similar thing. As anyone who has been following the Brexit negotiations and the question of the border with Northern Ireland, you will know that there are no easy answers. There is more that unites the two than divides them. But as with any alliance, any union, needs to be based on equality and on mutual respect. Each party should feel like they are stronger united than apart.
