Treasure Island by Robert Lewis Stevenson

Robert Lewis Stevenson's Treasure Island is one of his most famous works. The novel was written in the early 1800s when he was still a young man. He and his crew were on their way from New York to Port Royal, where they would set up base for future adventures. They eventually came across an enemy schooner called the Hispaniola who had been chasing them since 1805. In Chapter twenty-five we see how this encounter ended with both men being thrown into the sea by the Jolly Roger.
