Gilgamesh and the Snake
The plant was to be the old men are young again, and I bet you can imagine what it did. If you ate even part of the plant, years would drop from your body, like a heavy burden. It wasn't immortality, but it was a secret of the gods. And if Gilgamesh was smart about it, he could live for hundreds, maybe even thousands of years. This is where I pictured Gilgamesh doing the really atrocious Darth Vader no scream. The snake had completely eaten the flower, his quest was now a complete and utter failure.
