The Role of the Railways in Warfare
Gareth Reese Collins has a question about the railways and their role in conflict over time. Gareth says I'm told that in Spain back in the 19th century a different gauge was used to the one in France to avoid a hypothetical invasion using the railways what other examples exist of the role that railways have played in military conflicts oh well Gareth spot on there it's interesting that two countries at the kind of far end of Europe Spain and Russia both had different gauges for that reason and have so to this day. Even today with the war in Ukraine the railways are playing an absolute key role in the conflict both in moving people around but also in moving equipment around.
