The History of Medical Sociology
The first essay ever written about medical sociology was done by a doctor named Charles McIntyre. He wrote in 1894 about medical sociology and how he saw it as a twofold field. The science which investigates the laws regulating the relations between the medical profession and human society as a whole. And so that's looking at it more at the structural level and how the structure of medicine has affected society.
