Millennials grew up presenting themselves on line. With socials, my space and facebook, twitter, instagram, came the change. Online avitar and your real life self are no longer two distinct identities. And suddenly we're all brands with platforms. Everybody is suddenly responsible for their own pr as if they were some sort of celebrity this does a few things. You live in a semi constant state of anxiety about saying the wrong thing in public. There's another element to millennial despair, and it's a big one, the influence of social media. I wrote, image control, art, fascioism and the right to resist.
