The Origins of Roman Mythology
Much of Roman mythology came from Greek mythology. The gods themselves, for the most part, had equivalents between the two. This particular story first appears in a novel by a puleus called Metamorphoses or the Golden Ass. Now, it's a novel, an ancient novel, but still a novel. And what that means is that the story is detailed, intricate,. and honestly story-like in a way that most Greek myths aren't.
