There were no critical care training programs in any specialty in medicine at the time. So if you were a pediatrician like I was an interested in critical care Um, you had to do some additional training To get the technical skills to take care of really sick patients. Nowadays most Pediatric critical care doctors are not anesthesiologists They're pediatricians who do a three-year pediatric residency and they follow it with a three year pediatric critical care fellowship.
