Is It a Gift?
The term sacred arose in the 1970s for very practical reasons to protect places. Places like Pipestone, you know, the Pipestone quarry are not sacred but some people will say they're sacred. The notion of the sacred is very limited and it's kind of a genealogy that comes out of European languages. I think we're hampered by the fact that we have had indigenous languages largely squashed by the settler project.
