What Are the Romantic Poets?
The first person to use the term romantics is German philosopher Schlegel in 1798. It's a retrospective term which seeks to bring together all these different ideas, these different people into a kind of movement. We now think of the romantic movement as being the work of a much more heterogeneous group of thinkers including Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin and Shelley.
