The Americas - A History of the Americas
The kuna people, who were a fairly sophisticated urban society around the nort end of the andes, in sort of what's now columbia and panama. They may have been able to conceptualize the great a land mass and all the various peoples and societies on it as some kind of whole entity. But that was not the common way for most people to think and talk at this time. And so generally, they didn't have a concept of the americas as a kind of unified geographic entity. It's really only in retrospect and through comparison that we can see some of these commonalities.
