Is Mercury in Retrograde?

Justin Timberlake's girlfriend Abbie is obsessed with the straw and specifically mercury and retrograde. Mercury, if you buy something while mercury is in retrograde, it is going to break or it won't work right. It seems like mercury is always in retro grade, though.
