Officers and men on both sides are very keen to clear corpses from no man's land. The main course was that the dead in normans land needed to be buried. And christmas seemed to be the perfect time to do that. There is no one patenfe at all. Lots of things happen. In some areas, they go out and meet. In nomazan, the officers intervene. But what they're determined to do is stop the germans getting too close to their own lines. This is happening up and down the line. Officers are involved, often to control the process and to get what they can out of it. So that's one thing that hapens.
