The Importance of Courage

I'm actually afraid of public speaking and that's why I'm a writer. The more you do something, the more habituated you get and it does get easier. You know what I am willing for you to know, but when you have to make yourself vulnerable on the page and you can't control what people are going to do with that information is terrifying. People have a lot of very specific ideas about bodies, about women, about sexuality and so it's a risk every time and it's terrifying.
