The wheel was invented about 35 hundred years ago in eastern europe. The earliest surviving wheel is from lupiana, and it's from around that time. But there were entire civilizations that for a long time were aware of wheels and decided not to use them. And the egyptians built the pyramids without using wheels at all because they could move big blocks of stone on rafts or rollers.
