There is a breakdown and vehicle mortality is part of it as well. There are some major highways that run around and through the experimental population area or the core recovery area. We do have a high incidence of poaching, illegal killing, poisoning and gunshot in both injuries and guts for our wolves. It's not illegal to harm coyotes in the area where Mexican gray wolves are recovering.
