In his new book, "Dysfunctional," author David Frum explains why so many organizations are dysfunctional. He says one reason is that we tend to mimic what we see leaders doing consciously or unconsciously. Other reasons: We've been sold this bill of goods in which work is awful and if I don't monitor you all the time, then you're just gonna slack off; telecommuting pre COVID lockdowns meant people worked longer hours when they worked from home.
