When she applied unsuccessfully for promotion, she was told that men had actually resigned from the appointments board,. Why? Because they disapproved on principle of women holding managerial roles. The post office had two pay scales, one for men and one lower for women. I wanted to build an organisation that was family friendly, flexible to the extreme.
