Menasocles's Mistakes in the Battle of Cyrene
Menasocles was outraged by what he saw as an unfair division of spear won spoils. He vowed vengeance on the spartan, mounting his horse and covertly deserting the camp. Menasocles made haste for cyrene and was welcomed within the city's walls. Many citizens remained disillusioned with their spartan conqueror. It was this resentment that menasocles planned to exploit very quickly. Rivalled by menassocles vexatious words, the syreneans vowed to oppose the marauding army once more and fight for their freedom.
