Burns became favorite in week, developed hallucinatory clairvoyant visions. British prize-fighting champion James Mace visited his bedside. Burns told Mace that he did not mind to die, but that he hated to leave his wife and his dog Mustard. His agony and contortions during the last few hours of existence were fearful.
