In the 80s, we had the protected survive leaflets. There was an earlier version of that released to the 60s called advising the householder on protection against nuclear attack. And both had essentially the same advice, which was you could fortify your home so you can board up the windows and reinforce the exterior walls by perhaps piling up sandbags or heavy furniture. But that, of course, raised all its own questions. You know, do you live in a tiny flimsy little bungalow? Doyou live in a high-rise flat? Do you have the money to buy all these supplies, to buy sandbags, to buy wood, to buy tools, to buy two weeks
