Does the Australian Population Understand the Super Debate?
I don't think I can speak for the whole of the general Australian population when it comes to the super debate. But some of the work that we've done at extra does point to the fact that people's understanding around superannuation and actual financial literacy levels change a lot, depending on your personal circumstances. It's incredibly difficult to engage particularly young people in the superannuation debate, particularly where the payoff or the return that you get will not be for some few years. More immediate concerns are the cost of living, the inflation rising interest rates and for young people looking to get into the property market or even entering into their first job.
