What Was the Most Important Crop of the Inca?
Maize was a hugely important crop in terms of those sort of exchange networks and bring people together through reciprocity. The inca developed major terrace systems partly to produce the maze. Potatoes don't require those terra systems and irrigation systems in quite the same way. There were other things, cocoa leaves, for instance. And things like kinoa were really important, very high a nutrition crop as well.
