There were 44 separate Black Friday related incidents that resulted in at least 11 deaths and 108 injuries over a 12-year period. Over the years, average of one person dying every year Black Friday shopping and about nine or 10 people being injured every year. But there's sort of two things that stood out to me in this data. One is that a lot of the underlying causes were mostly avoidable. Nobody should die over getting $200 off on a flat-screen TV at Walmart. It's just not something that people should sacrifice their life for.
