Prevalence is simply the number of patients in the population at a particular time, or in a short time period who have the disease. Incidence is the proportion of the population who developed the disease per unit time. So as I've said, predictive values are the ones that are clinically relevant because that's what we're dealing with,. given a test result. And because they're actually taken to account the prevalence of the disease - and we will look at that later on.
