The Venus Jupiter Conjunction and the Roman Empire's Tax Collection
The Roman Empire's tax collection which occurred about every 14 years, there was a historian who lived a generation after Jesus. Josephus recalled that there was a tax collection in 8 BC and the thing about tax collections is it didn't matter where you were, you had to go to your home where you were born. That chronology places Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem around 8 BC so that's kind of a little piece of this. It turns out that if we are to believe this chronology which puts a heavy emphasis on the astrological origins of Christianity versus the 2 BC chronology which is about the very visible conjunction of Venus and Jupiter.
