In many cases, they got the sample. So for example, here is a sample from the South Hydrate Ridge that was collected in 2002, 12.4 and 14.96 meters below the sea floor. And they got 10 grams of each sample so that people who had collected them sharing them and they extracted DNA and did the DNA sequence analysis in this study. But with these rare samples that are really hard and expensive to collect, you don't want to sort of turn over that 10 grams and end up with like 100 base pairs of just junky sequence. You really want to maximize the information that you get out of there with robust techniques.
