The Mule Field

Stables were built with substantial drainage so that they could sweep them out and keep them clean. When the horses went to france, they were stabled and looked after here. Had quite a number of blacksmiths because all the officers rode horses in those days. They had pack ponies for carrying os of ammunition to and from the guns at the front. And you can still see where the soil has subsided, which is probably one reason why they call it mule field.
