Theophanes, the Earliest Roman Chronicler, Is a Very Early Author

Theophanes was one of the very few roman authors with access to material and names that is not found in most of the other byzantine sources. By 700 c e, the romans have heard of the new religion and the new prophet and the new sohaba and their theology. But he's mentioning a new religion, a new prophet, the children of ishmael, descending togh abraham, calling to monytheism. And obviously he's not a hundred % accurate.
