How Do We Achieve Development?
Western notions of development have often been defined through an economic lens, and they've also been very paternalists. The only criteria which you consider will poverty as changed is if you believe that will poverty should only be recognized at the one dollar 90 a day. If we're fighting for 15 pounds an hour here in the uk, for workers, we should at least be fighting for 15 dollars a day for workers in the global. Why can't we talk about actually overturning this system and putting something else in its place? And once we start to ask ourselves why is it people are poor, then we need to sbeak with the answer.
