Trial by Combat

There's a real sense that there are advantages to the trial by combat. The verdict that it delivers will at least be definitive, even if it wrong. Kings and emperors find it increasingly problematic over the course of middle ages. But aristocrats want it to continue. And i think part of the reason is this the sort of definitive closure that it gives,. It canhave a really maco kind of masculinity in ways that really kind of fit the culture of violence of which they're a part.
