The Egyptians Believed That After Death They Could Live Again
The Egyptians believed that after death they could live again. They didn't always believe this at the very beginning of the dynastic age. But gradually it became accepted that elite people who had the right rituals and knew what to do could go and live in a different land. Not everyone was mummified, but if you were a middle-class type Egyptian or upwards, you probably would want to be mummified if you could afford it.
