Why So Many Women in Tech Lost Their Jobs This Year in Such a Male-Heavy Industry
The tech industry hit a rough patch late last year as interest rates rose and pandemic-era habits faded. Nadine learned she was one of hundreds of thousands of workers laid off from their very good, benefit-heavy tech jobs earlier this year. According to an analysis from layoffs.fii, women made up 45% of laid-off tech employees from October 2022 through this June. But women make up a lower percentage of tech workers overall. So today on the show, why so many women in tech lost their jobs this year in such a male-dominated industry.
