The goal of most Renaissance makeup was to look natural. Most women wore makeup that were just aimed to make them look better. So you get anti-wrinkle cream, moisturiser, toner and stuff designed to get rid of blemishes like spots or many other kind of skin conditions. There's a lot of resentment towards women as well for getting together and sharing these recipes. And this is a time when women had a pretty awful time, a lot of time with men and more often the victims of violence and so on.
