In the book you write about it in a very spare but deeply affecting way. You were unable to share this traumatic experience with your family, with your parents. I was terrified and we were raised Catholic. I thought what had happened was a sin that I would go to hell. But by doing that the damage within you was exacerbated because you internalized everything.
