A Chicago Suburb Is the First in the United States to Issue Reparations for Slavery

Evanston, a suburb of Chicago, has become the first in the country to issue reparations payments. The money is going exclusively to residents who lived in Evanston before the 1970s. They don't have to prove they were specifically discriminated against just that they lived in the area at the time. Money can only be used for housing repairs or mortgage payments.
