The Scabber and the Lady of the Lake

The scabber was Arthur's way of proving that he wasn't locked on a path of destruction, that he and his people could be saved. Morgan knew instinctively that it was the lady of the lake's doing but she didn't know how to stop her. She waited out into a nearby lake, right to the drop off, where the depths were inscrutably blue and tossed the scabber into the water.
